a photo exhibition came and went very quietly. ten of my photographs were exhibited in klia in conjunction with world environmental day. the photos will be exhibited again next month, although i can’t confirm the dates right now. here’s how our posters looked like.

oddly enough, it was the train rides between kl and klia that got me really excited about this project. i love train rides. so much so that i don’t even need a destination to get on one - just any excuse. like a photography exhibition ;)

hanging out in the airport is odd in a good way - the airport is primarily a transitionary space. people fly in, people scramble to leave, people rush there to get on a plane bound to elsewhere. everyone’s heading someplace else. and there you are in the midst of the comings and goings, watching. stationary. observing the fluster, knowing that you travelled 30 minutes to actually be there, whilst the rest just tolerated the place because it was a necessary stop.

because the project was commissioned by klia - i had access to many cool places that are usually off limits. i walked a bit of the runway. i passed by the baggage loading area - where the workers dumped luggage onto the conveyor belt. i went to three green sites within the airport - two with lakes, one with a waterfall. the forest cone in the middle of the satellite building? i was inside there, and it was awesome to be inside there. i learned interesting facts like how klia has balancing ponds flanking the runway to neutralize the carbon emissions, and how the folks at frim built the forest areas within the airport from scratch.

i guess i can put a nice fat tick on my things to do list now. an exhibited photographer? check. :)
