stumbled onto an article about murakami, it’s a good read. i recently made my first ebay purchase - murakami’s first book, hear the wind sing. this book is rare - you can’t find it out of japan, and a translated copy is an even harder find. received it in the mail a few days ago and was gleeful with joy.
how this book came to be written is an interesting story. murakami was watching a live baseball game in the stadium one day. whilst witnessing a score, he suddenly realised he can write a novel. immediately upon reaching home that night, he wrote. he wrote progressively every night for four months and published the book. its success encouraged him to keep writing.
so - holding that book in my hands, was like touching muramaki’s beginning. it filled me with a deep bookish kinda satisfaction.
