penguin warehouse sales

penguin.jpgout of desperation, i called pearsons today to ask whether they are planning any penguin warehouse sales. i have been waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for one. the last time they had one was 2002 i think, it was orgasmically good. mph and times warehouse sales falls way short.

the lady on the line told me that they aren't planning one. so i asked whether they have any mailing list of sorts that i can be on so that i would know if they do hold one. she passed me to the penguin books department.

a lady picked up. i asked the same questions again and she told me that they lost the space where they usually hold their warehouse sales and that they don't have big enough a space to hold another one :(((((((((((((((((

oh woe is me!

I too have been waiting & waiting for that sale in PJ. I think that is a bs excuse though. They're jsut probably selling too many books (or ordering much less) so there aren't enough leftovers to do a sale.

Sorry to disappoint everyone, but Penguin will not be holding anymore sales because they have pulped all the books that were left over from the last sale. I was told this by a Pearson employee and I was so outraged that I tried to kill her. However, it seems that the pulping had to happen for various legal and marketing reasons. I don't understand it at all, but it works on the same principle as fast food joints having to officially dispose of leftpver food instead of distributing the stuff to the starving. But on a happier note, a lot of the stock at the last warehouse sale was bought by some company that now sells the stuff in various hypermarkets, like Giant, Carrefour and Tesco's. YOu can find some quite good stuff there esp if you're not looking for anything in particular!!
