initial d the movie
a movie heaped with expectations.
i got addicted to the anime few years back and followed it religiously. wasn't much of a car racing fan - but the plot hooked me in.
star studded affair - what with wong chau sang (hk's anthony hopkins) and chapman to, how can the movie go wrong? oh and jay chou too, grin. despite my doubts about him playing the lead role, he actually pulled it off pretty well - blur look, silent, mumble mumble. wong chau sang is PERFECT for the role of the father. when i heard he was playing the father i SO couldn't wait for the movie. he made the role looked bleeding sexy too. 44 and sexy!
read in a review that out of 20 cars that were used for the drifting scenes, 5 remained in good condition at the end of the shoot, haha. also - wong chau sang being the serious actor that he is, was drunk most of the time to "play" his role of the father better. beat that. hah!
the movie stayed very true to the cartoon, a real delight to watch. i haven't laughed so hard in the cinema for ages. definately worth watching twice, even thrice.
go watch, go watch.
