i'm back
just a short holler to say i'm back safe and sound - but extremely sleepy (so am off to bed after this). had roughly eight hours of sleep the last three days!
songkran in chiang mai is MADNESS. it was crazy it was chaotic it was pure wicked fun. you've never known true wetness till you've songkraned it out right by the moat! i was even reading a soggy book for two days! a wet book! can you imagine!
apart from that - i rode on an elephant (and got smeared all over by their nose goo!), glided through rapids in a bamboo raft, hiked to two tribal villages, took some time out at the maewang waterfall, enjoyed the chiang mai night bazaar and seeked relief at foot massage parlours. also made some friends whom i hope to visit again.
didn't get to see much of the city because it was pure MADNESS during songkran. got a video to prove it - let me figure out how to youtube.
in the meantime, i leave a pic for you to contemplate what i mean by MADNESS.

I celebrated Lao new year at Luang Prabang and it was a water festival as well. You are right, it was all madness... it was so crazy that I can't even go sightseeing for two days. Let's swap stories when i get back :)
