how travelling to nepal has affected my family

  1. in the middle of dinner with robarto on my third night back, i received this following text from my mother - "Am enjoying an after dinner masala tea. nepalese rock playin in background. you?"
  2. i come home everyday to a house filled with nepali music, transporting me back to thamel street
  3. we talk about masala tea. a lot.
  4. we also try to brew it
  5. we talk about nepali food, a lot.
  6. we are hunting for recipes
  7. both my mum and i are currently reading nepal related literature
  8. my dad fervently searches for the everest peak in ALL our travel pictures
  9. we sometimes namaste each other instead of saying good morning at the breakfast table
  10. groggy eyed me stumbled into the bathroom one morning to see this: toothpaste.JPG pokhara is where the trekker's begin their hike to everest base camp in nepal

Eating Chaos - that's an evocative domain name! Funny thing about blogging, I keep discovering more and more interesting blogs - even the very personal ones make me feel like a voyeur, but it's frustrating not knowing who's behind all these posts! Anyhow, your wanderlust makes me a tad nostalgic for my travelling days back in the 1980s. My first and only Nepal visit was in December 1984 (with my 13-year-old daughter, now almost 36!!!) Yes, fond memories of Pokhara... and Annapurna (to whom I dedicated a piano composition in 1986 :-)... and Christmas Eve in Kathmandu, spent smoking my chellum in the guesthouse and worrying about my daughter, who crept in around 2:30AM, telling me about this cute Nepali lad who took her to the Monkey Temple (and taught her some monkey bizniz no doubt!)... Happy belated 30th solar orbit, my friend!
